Yet again the cookie does not identify you personally only that you have or have not visited previously and which pages you viewed. We take part in something called Google analytics and yes this does mean we share the unique number in the cookie with Google so they can provide us with information that we can use to help us better understand how our customers use our site and help us to improve the customer experience for future visits.

It also helps us understand if any visitors have come to our site as a result of any adverts we might have placed online using Google ads. These are the ads you see at the right hand side of your screen (and sometimes at the top) when you do a Google search. The cookie allows Google to tell us if someone has visited our site as a direct result of clicking on one of these ads and as we have to pay for this type of advertising it means we can measure if it has been worthwhile for us to run the adverts. If we had a shop on the high street we could get customer feedback about any adverts we had run by asking customers if they had seen our advert in the newspaper or on a billboard etc and using cookies is how we measure the success or otherwise of our online advertising campaigns.
